Race Day Information
Packet Pickup & New Balance Goodie Bags
Packet Pickup: Packets (which will include the team bibs and singlets) can be picked up Friday night at Sweeney's in Back Bay from 6-10PM (710 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02199). There will be a shakeout run (at 6pm), food, and drinks. All relay runners are welcome to come and join us! Packets can also be picked up Saturday at the TRACK starting at 2pm.
The Process: To keep things organized, one designated person per team must pick up the entire team’s packet and distribute the gear to the rest of the runners. If you are not the designated pickup person, please do not attempt to pick up your individual bib. Your captain should notify you who the dedicated point person is!
NB Goodie Bags: Every runner also gets a New Balance Relay Goodie Bag! You can collect yours on Friday at Sweeney’s or Saturday at the TRACK.
Crucial Step: You MUST show your race bib to receive your goodie bag. This means you need to coordinate with your Captain to get your bib before heading to the goodie bag station.
Captains: Please communicate with your team ASAP to let them know when and where you will be distributing their gear.
Event Times
Doors Open: 2:00 PM
Team Introductions: 2:45 PM - About 15 minutes before the race starts we'll bring all our participants out to the track for team intros. This is one of the highlights of the event - the opportunity to run down the straightaway with sparks and all the hype to get the day started.
Relay Starts: 3:00 PM
Knowing When You Race
Your captain should reach out in the next few days to share your team’s relay order. When you arrive Saturday, it is critical that you know what leg of the relay you are running and know when you need to be down on the track to take the baton.
As a rule of thumb, we ask runners to be "race ready" in the check-in area when the runner three legs ahead of them is on the track. So, for example, if you are running the 7th leg of your relay, you should be ready to go, in the check-in area, when your team's 4th runner is on the track.
You can do some quick mental math to get a rough idea of when you will be racing. Again if you're running the 7th leg, assuming most of your team members are running the 5:00-8:00 mile range, you're probably racing around about 30-45 minutes into the event or in the 3:30-3:45pm window. This isn't an exact science though, so please stay alert and pay attention to the race progress!
You will be able to track legs and laps on the scoreboard and your captain should also be on site to help give you an idea of when you need to be ready to rip!
